Joy obtained MBA degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Dong Hua University(China), Graduated Diploma in Business Administration from Singapore Institute of Management, and Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment from Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business.

Joy started her career with Hong Leong Asia’s building material subsidiary HL-Wienerberger, being responsible for product development and ISO9000 quality control system set-up for its Singapore and China plants.   Thereafter, she spent over 16 years in researching and managing Asia-Pacific regional conferences in commodities (steel, metals, agri, energy), finance, automotive and petrochemical sectors etc, working for CMT, SMR, Metal Bulletin Events and FOW Events (part of Euromoney Institutional Investors PLC).

With her industry knowledge and wide network, Joy has been conducting market research projects for SMR on stainless steel, special steel and end-use sectors since 2004,  including phone interviews and field visits.

Joy is effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin, a professional trainer and interpreter. She speaks Shanghainese and Cantonese dialect too.
