Andrew Gingell

Andrew Gingell graduated from the University of Cambridge, England, in 1990 with a degree in Natural Sciences, specializing in Materials Science & Metallurgy. In 1994 he published his PhD thesis at the University of Cambridge on the topic of Corrosion Fatigue and Hydrogen Embrittlement of High Strength Aluminium Alloys.

After spending a Post-doctoral year in the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de St. Etienne, France, he joined what was to become the ArcelorMittal group as a Research Engineer in their R&D center in Metz, France, taking charge of H2S corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement of linepipe and pressure vessel steels.

In 1999 he joined Industeel in the Chateauneuf heavy plate mill, taking a position of marketing manager of pressure vessel steels. After several years in sales & marketing, Andrew moved to Singapore in 2006 to take the position of Industeel Sales Director for Asia-Pacific. On returning to France in 2009, he took the position of Marketing and R&D Director and became a member of Industeel’s Management Board. He was the Director of Industeel’s R&D Centre in Le Creusot between 2011 and 2014, and subsequently holds the position of Marketing & Strategy Director for Industeel.
