Martin Abbott is Chief Executive Officer of Global Commodities Holdings Limited. globalCOAL; a division of Global Commodities Holdings Limited, is the world’s leading online coal trading platform and FCA-approved Benchmark Administrator. He was appointed to this position in May 2017, having originally joined as Independent Non-Executive Director in 2016.  

In a career spanning publishing, trading and financial services, Martin has accumulated a wealth of leadership experience in commodity markets. Prior to joining globalCOAL, he was Chief Executive of the London Metal Exchange (LME) from 2006 to 2013. There he transformed the business into a world-class commercially-driven exchange, boosting profit from £2M to £50M per annum, before leading the sale of the business to the Hong Kong Stock Exchanges and Clearing Group.  

Martin studied at the University of Leicester, where he graduated with a LLB (hons).
