On 2020, Martti Sassi was appointed President of Business Area Ferrochrome at Outokumpu.

Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President of Business Area Ferrochrome (2018–2020) and as Senior Vice President of Tornio Operations (2016–2018), leading large-scale stainless steel and ferrochrome production operations. Earlier in his career, he held several leadership roles in operations, maintenance and business development at Outokumpu, after joining the company in 1990.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Oulu.
