Robert Messmer joined the SMR team as a Market Analyst in 2013.

His professional career in the steel industry dates back to the year 2000, when he started an apprenticeship as a machining technician at the worldwide leading powder metallurgy company PLANSEE, Austria. In his 10-year career at PLANSEE, Robert worked in several departments of the company and gained expertise in mechanical processing of refractory metals.

Before joining SMR Robert studied Business and Management with a focus on marketing & sales and human resources at the Management Center Innsbruck in Austria and pursued a part of his studies at the University of San Francisco in the USA.

Robert conducts stainless steel seminars for industry freshman and publishes regular reports on the European stainless steel industry. He is also responsible for raw material issues and consulting projects for the stainless and specialty steel industry on a global scale.
